A deep dive into incomplete dominance, co-dominance, incomplete penetrance, epistasis, complementation and sex-influence and sex-limited traits. All things that would initially make Mendel say, "hmmmm..... I don't get it" until we fully understand the Mendelian principles underlying these phenomena.

MiniReview Video - Week 3 - Lectures 3 & 4
Thank you for this lecture.
excellent videos. Thanks for teaching so clearly.
I just want to express my gratitude, if it werent for lecturers like yourself sir, people would divert their attention away from genetics.
How did you learn these concepts so well? Through books, or classes? Do you have a good biochemistry book to recommend?
can you please paste the link to the show me site? I can't see them on the video and great lecture by the way
Thanks for the kind words and sure, no problem. Here you go: www.showme.com/sh/?h=XLj8foG
On this day 5/19/24 Jim Watson is STILL ALIVE (96 Y.O-living in Chicago)
Beautifully explained ❤
A clear explanation!
Great video sir!
You are such a gift to humanity!
May I ask what book ur using
Ben Pierce’s Genetics, A Conceptual Approach
A hidden gem of a video god bless
Excelent class! Just a reminder: bread are made by fermentation too
God bless you no one needs lehninger when you are here
I finally understand acid and bases- and I have already passed organic II with an A. Which is concerning! Thank you so much!
I am so grateful for your videos. You have such gift for explaining things in a way that makes sense. I appreciate you!
Amazing explanation!
8:02 whether you are homeless I gotta comment, or heterozygotic...
LOL. It does sound like “homeless I gotta comment”. Oh, man… 🤦♂️
bro is singlehandedly saving my ass in cell bio, mvp
Wonderful
27:48 Dude this just blew my mind 🤯
Thank you so much man 🙏
This pertains to my physiology course and cell signaling makes way more sense. Glad I was able to find your youtube videos.
Took 20 seconds to find the answer when my professor couldn't even put this on his slides.
I just LOVE listening to your lectures. You are making such a difference in my understanding. You teach with such clarity. It is like listening to a story- which makes it easy to remember. Setting the stage really makes a difference! Thank you for sharing your gift!
you're amazing thank you so so much
Hmm, right or wrong? At the end of the Gene Cloning lecture (Lecture 1) there is a quiz with one question (a match type question). The good professor, Thomas Mennella, who by the way delivers an excellent well thought-out gene cloning lecture, has answered the question as follows: "Antibiotic resistance gene" was matched to -----> (d) "confers ability to grow under certain conditions" AND "Selection marker" was matched to -----> (f) "confers ability to grow in the presence of antibiotic" My thinking was a flip-flop of the above (not to say the good professor was incorrect) as my answer was as follows: "Antibiotic resistance gene" was matched to -----> (f) "confers ability to grow in the presence of antibiotic" "Selection marker" was matched to -----> (d) "confers ability to grow under certain conditions" Now, if push comes to shove I do put a bit more weight in my answer, however if one were to really scrutinize the professor's answer you can certainly make an argument that the professor is also correct .... after all the professor, given his gift at teaching, should clone himself so he can teach at multiple institutions ... given the preponderance of lousy biochem and genetic teachers we all have had. Amen.
What’s the textbook? I am an engineering and am trying to learn genetics in a very short period of time for… reasons.😅
Hi Luke. No problem. For this course the text is Ben Pierce’s Genetics: a Conceptual Approach
@@thomasmennella5501Thank you, sir. You are a great man.
Thank you so much for making and uploading this lecture. I always found dihybrid crosses tedious and confusing with Punnett squares, so taking this probability approach has been incredibly helpful for me. Clearly explained, and loved the little humour in there as well. Thanks again! ☺
6K views, I can't.... Give this man a nobel price, for explaining like a fckn MIT professor.
so truuuuuuueeee
So useful
Nice
Greatly appreciated
Excellent explanation, simple yet explanatory. I will show your video to other students and teachers.
Which book is this for?
Essential Cell Biology by Alberts, et al
@@thomasmennella5501 Okay thank you!
The lecture is so clear!
This guy is the best. He makes this so easy to understand and he just seems like a cool guy to hang out with. Love how when he was talking about Trans fat is "man made and woman made". And how humans put profit over health. Love this guy
Thank you so much for saving my semester ❤
it was so fun to listen to you while it was a torture to listen to my own professor, teaching the same topic
I wish there were videos for all my courses by you, you are the best
thank u so much...way better than my prof
Is each chromosome six feet long?
perfect video.thanks sir
I love this! Thanks! What about the parent offspring regression though? When you argue that the farmers focus on additive variance because its more predictable it doesn't explain why the regression approach works.
Unfortunately my professor is making us memorize the three and one letter codes 🙃
Thank you 🙏🏻
Anyone who did Bsc in human genetics ?
An engaging lucid and cogent lecture.
Are all lectin membrane proteins?. How glycoprotein bind with the lectin...
Thank you so much for your videos! I'm revising for a uni Cell Biology exam that I have on Monday and your videos are really helping me touch up on some of the major concepts. Love your explanations, I wish my professor was as enthusiastic about these topics as you are! Wish you all the best.
